Job Title: Product Manager
Main purpose of job role:
- Manage the KBiosystems/PSL standard branded instruments sold through the PSL and Finneran distribution networks
- Formulate and execute strategies to meet and exceed growth targets of the business segment
- Responsible for the life-cycle of products in the business segment from concept through to obscelescence.
- Support the business with a comprehensive knowledge of the segment including market share, competitors, large customers & commercial opportunities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the product life cycle
- Responsible for implementing pricing, competitive positioning, value proposition, promotion, product roadmaps and forecasting
- Support business decisions with objective data:
- Analyze segment, market and growth trends utilizing industry research, including client research (voice of customer)
- Develop forecasts, monitor competitive activity and identify product differentiation opportunities
- Identify new product opportunities for the marketplace
- Work as primary contact with suppliers/partners for technical, financial and logistical requirements
- Provide strategy and direction for the business segment, identifying product roadmap requirements and managing business plans for both new and existing products
- Plan and execute launch campaigns for new product introductions
- Give technical focus to commercial team (including distribution partners)
- Understand the manufacture/supply base of the products keeping abreast of changes in technology
- Interact with customers/distributors to understand problems, obtain feedback & identify solutions
- Represent the business at scientific events and conferences
Essential Qualifications:
Scientific or engineering background (advanced level, HNC or degree)
Desirable Qualifications:
Business Studies qualification or MBA
Accountable for:
- Achievement of the annual sales budget for the business segment
- Managing dynamics of the product segment – including retiring products
- Successful launch of new products, on time, on budget and to achieve initial period sales forecasts
Experience Required:
• Proven sales, marketing or product management experience
• Demonstrated high technical capability/experience within the laboratory industry
• Experience working in a complex matrix structure, supporting/influencing partners in different business segments & global regions
